Nebraska and the Academy Awards

Photo: Laurie Richards, Nebraska Film Office and Chloé Zhao, NOMADLAND   The 93rd Academy Awards in Los Angeles, April 25, was an historical moment in the film industry.  And, Nebraska played a part. Filmmaker Chloe Zhao’s award winning Nomadland topped the run of Oscar garnering three awards:  Best Director Oscar, Best Actress Oscar for Frances McDormand and Best Picture Oscar. The State’s tourism slogan, “Nebraska. Honestly, it’s not for everyone,” has garnered national and international attention. And like tourism, filming on location in Nebraska may not be for everyone, however. Everyone is a filmmaker, as a hobbyist or professional, and we can offer something for you. Nebraska continues to embrace independent film, commercials, documentaries, and web series shooting on location. Fall 2019

Derek and Brent Maze have completed filming La Flamme Rouge. The movie filmed on location in Fremont and Lincoln.  The brothers Maze utilized the LB840 fund from the community of Fremont to assist with their project.  Balthazar Getty stars in the film, along with co-stars from his past, Twin Peaks’ Nicole LaLiberte and George Griffith.
