April 2014

Welcome spring! Finally! Farmers are getting ready to plant their crops and you should be getting ready to shoot your project in Nebraska! You’ve had all winter to finish the final draft of the screenplay and secure your financing, your actors and lock in those perfect locations from Scottsbluff to Plattsmouth. Your crew is here, your transportation folks, your grip truck, your editing bay, your community support groups, all in place. April is not the cruelest month! It is the month to take action!!

Are you looking for networking opportunities in Nebraska? Come to the monthly Nebraska Film Association meeting tomorrow evening in Omaha, Clancy’s Pub, 114th and Dodge, 5-7. The NFA group seeks to promote filmmaking in Nebraska at all levels. This month’s guest is gubernatorial candidate, Mike Foley and Association of Film Commissioner’s staff representative, Nebraska’s Amy Thompson. Come and listen to their reports on trends in the film industry and opinions about how to make this a viable part of our economic development plans.

Nebraska Writers Guild Spring Conference takes place this weekend at Mahoney State Park, April 11-12. Registration is still available at www.nebraskawriters.org.

Shooting feature videos, commercials, music videos, in-house industrial informational and marketing pieces are all part of Nebraska’s entertainment scene. Get to know the territory! Check out these images that will help you decide on Nebraska as the backdrop for your next film! http://nebraskalocation.com/author/jvesay/

See you soon.
